What is an EDT file

EDT files mostly belong to QuantStudio. EDT files are not a single universal format. Their content depends on the creating application.
For example, one common variant stores qPCR experiment data in a ZIP container. This version is used with QuantStudio Design and Analysis Software (Thermo Fisher).

• qPCR Data Files: Contain experimental results and analysis data in a compressed structure.
• Football Manager Files: Hold game configuration, staff data, and stadium templates. These text‐based files often use UTF-8 encoding and are managed by Football Manager (Football Manager).
• Game Editor Files: Store map or level designs for editors such as EDTeditor (EDTeditor).
• Diagram Templates: Save drawing templates in XML format for ConceptDraw PRO (ConceptDraw).
• CAD Drawings: Include design data for applications like AutoCAD or EPLAN Electric P8 (AutoCAD).
• Schedule Files: Function as timetabling files in educational systems like SCOLYS (SCOLYS).
• Survey and Document Files: Occasionally they are Microsoft Word documents (using the Microsoft Compound format, see Word) or hydrographic survey data for Hypack (Hypack).
• Other Data Files: Some versions are encoded data files, embroidery design files, or ESL data templates in XML.

How to open EDT files

You need a suitable software like QuantStudio to open an EDT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EDT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EDT file directly in the browser:. EDT file format:

To find out what program is needed to open EDT files, you need to determine the file format. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below is our analysis of the EDT files:

The EDT file extension is quite common and covers a large number of different file formats. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 20% of all EDT files use the ZIP algorithm, multiple files are compressed and combined into one EDT file. The included 8 to 15 files have file names such as \apldbio\, \apldbio\sds\Manifest.mf, \apldbio\sds\analysis_protocol.xml, \apldbio\sds\experiment.xml, \apldbio\sds\export_setting.xml, \apldbio\sds\notification_setting.xml, \apldbio\sds\plate_setup.xml, \apldbio\sds\tcprotocol.xml and \apldbio\sds\tools.xml. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. EDT files are between 7 KB and 15 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as apldbio/sds/Manifest.mf. Such files sometimes refer to template, covid, path, sars, fast, sample, plate, quant, link, melt and qpcr.
• 10% of all EDT files start with the bytes ## , which are crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The files are on average 1 KB in size and range from 570 bytes to 4 KB. The files contain the following words: This, should, DADDY, Future Chairmen, SUGAR, used, START, Club Name, parameters and this file. The file name future_chairmen.edt or sugardaddy.edt is characteristic of these files. Files like these have the following tags: chairmen, future, grades, youth, takeovers, valid and only.

All other EDT files (70%) have different formats, often, for example, XML, UTF-8, MCOZ, STARTING, TRUE, FTP and ENGLISH.
