What is an EIT file?

EIT files mostly belong to Educreations. The EIT files are not a single format but a label used for several different file types. Many come as smart notebook files from Educreations Interactive Whiteboard, stored inside a ZIP archive that holds interactive educational content.
Key uses include:

Smart Notebook Files: These files serve as digital, interactive whiteboards and textbooks (see Educreations).

eBook Files: Used by Franklin Electronic Publishers to hold eBook and electronic dictionary data.

Electrical Impedance Tomography Data: Employed by medical and diagnostic systems (e.g. from Draeger and tools like EIT Viewer or EIT4) to store imaging and measurement data. For details, visit Draeger.

Instrument Data: Some files record UV radiometer measurements (refer to Phoseon).

How do you open EIT files?

You need a suitable software like Educreations to open an EIT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EIT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EIT file directly in the browser:. EIT format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the EIT files looks like this:

The EIT file type is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The following file formats are most commonly found in EIT files:

• 40% of all EIT files internally use the ZIP format, so several files are compressed and saved in one EIT file. The 1 to 2 compressed files are called \data\content.xml, \data\images\ and \data\images\image1.png. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. EIT files are between 10 KB and 660 KB in size. The files contain the following words: data/ and data/content.xml. These files are often associated with logs and page.
• 20% of all EIT files start with the bytes 33 00 00 00 crucial for this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 3 MB to 83 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as ************, Date, Filename, Format:   51, Time and ---Draeger EIT-Software V1.20---. The file name ID_SC_01_001.eit is characteristic of these files.
