What is an F4V file?

F4V files mostly belong to Flash Player by Adobe. F4V is a media container file format based on Adobe Flash specification for streaming media over the Internet. A file with F4V filename extension contains audio, video, text, and metadata. The video streams in an F4V file use H.264 video compression while the audio content is stored in AAC or MP4 format. F4V is extended from ISO base media file format so it is similar to MP4 and it uses video/mp4 MIME type when transferred over the Internet. F4V file format is mainly used to stream video and audio content over the Internet and F4V videos may be played with Flash Player 9, AIR, and third-party media players such as VLC.

How to open an F4V file

You need a suitable software like Flash Player to open an F4V file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
