Opening a FAV File
The FAV file type is primarily associated with Action!.
What is a FAV file?
To open a FAV file, first identify its origin. If it appears to be a bookmark list, try a text editor or the web browser it came from. If it is a screen recording, use the original media software.
FilExt.com tip: Always check file properties and backup your file before attempting any conversion or modification.
How to open FAV files
You need a suitable software like Action! to open a FAV file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FAV file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FAV file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

FAV file extension format:
To find out what program is needed to open FAV files, you need to determine the file format. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the FAV files is as follows:
FAV is not a commonly used file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 25% of all FAV files have the same signature FAVOURITE RECORDING . These files contain text and words, not binary data. FAV files can be up to 21 bytes in size, but are often around 21 bytes - 21 bytes. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: FAVOURITE RECORDING. A usual file name is Action 01-06-2020 10-30.fav or Desktop 01-06-2020 10-30.fav. Files like these are sometimes connected to minecraft.
- 15% of all FAV files use the popular .NET file format. The .NET format is used to save Microsoft .NET Framework objects to a file (ex. save game state as file) via object serialization. Such a .NET object may contain functions and data like settings, images or videos. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. FAV files can be up to 320 KB in size, but are often around 11 KB - 240 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as *AolDesktop.Models.Favorites.FavoritesCache, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null, IAolDesktop, Version, data and etag. Such files sometimes refer to favorite and places.
The remaining 60% of all FAV files are files with no common format, often, for example, Outlook Shortcuts, UTF-16 (LE), UZVM and SAMP. The category is microsoft, settings, internet, burner, round or game. Just click the "Choose your .fav file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your FAV file is.
