Opening an FBL File
The FBL file type is primarily associated with FBLReader.
What is an FBL file?
Some FBL files are also designed to record log information. For instance, they can work as behavior log files to capture flight or activity data, or as FIX protocol logs for recording transaction messages in financial systems.
Key details compiled by FilExt.com include:
- Navigation Map Data: Contains route, location, and mapping instructions.
- Behavior Logs: Records flight data or user behavior statistics.
- FIX Binary Logs: Stores protocol messages in a compact binary form.
These files are meant to be opened with dedicated software instead of a text editor. For example, use the viewer provided by HERE Maps or check tools from OneZero Hub for FIX logs.
FilExt.com note: This file is a binary file meant for machine processing, not casual editing.
How can I open an FBL file?
You need a suitable software like FBLReader to open an FBL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FBL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FBL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert FBL files:
- FBLReader
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FBL files are often referred to as FBLReader data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- CADfix (Log File) by ITI TranscenDataCADfix provides a solution for the problems of data exchange and re-use between different engineering systems and applications. It allows the user to import CAD data and then to repair and manipulate it to a form most suitable for the downstream application. This file format is classified as CAD/CAM.

FBL file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the FBL files looks like this:
FBL is seldom used as a file extension and predominantly uses a uniform format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 75% of all FBL files are iGO map files. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 4 MB to 120 MB in size. The file type is relatively new. Examples of file names are Australia.fbl. These files are often associated with here, albania, kingdom, united, basemap and romania.
All other FBL files (25%) have no uniform format. The category is trace or current. You can get all the details of your FBL file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .fbl file to analyze" above.
Technical Data for FBL File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

an fbl binary data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with FBL files
- Associate the FBL file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open binary data files. Because only the current version supports the latest FBL file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available FBLReader update.
- To make sure that your FBL file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .FBL file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
