Opening an FDA File
The FDA file type is primarily associated with Varies by origin.
What is an FDA file?
FDA file variations: FDA files are not a single format. Their use depends on the source and context in which they were created. They include:
- Relic Entertainment Audio Files: These store game audio data using a proprietary Relic Chunky File Format.
- Topcon OCT Files: These hold Optical Coherence Tomography data from medical imaging devices. For more details, see the Topcon Healthcare page.
- MATLAB Filter Design Data Files: Used within MATLAB to save filter design parameters and related simulation data. Visit MathWorks for more info.
- HERE Map Data Files: These contain navigation data used by HERE Maps Navigator; they assist devices like those from Garmin. More information is available at HERE Navigation.
- Multisim Bitmap Image Files: A less common use, these store bitmap images for specific engineering applications, viewed with FDAView. Further details can be found at FDAView.
Usage and Opening:
If you encounter an FDA file, determine its origin. The right application—whether a game audio tool, medical imaging software, MATLAB, navigation program, or image viewer—is needed to open and view its contents. Check for file headers or metadata for clues.
Functionality:
FilExt.com notes: Each variant is optimized for its field. They differ internally: one may compress sound, another store scan data, while others hold design parameters or map details. This showcases the versatility hidden behind one extension.
How to open an FDA file
You need a suitable software like Varies by origin to open an FDA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FDA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FDA file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert FDA files:
- Varies by origin
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FDA files are often referred to as Varies by origin data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- FF&EZ (Uncompressed Data Archive) by Jim Carls - Data Management ConsultantThis is a text file format, similar to XML, used to store relational data in a single file that can be used for archiving or emailing to other users of the FF&EZ FF&E Specifications software. This file format is classified as Text.
- System SYSUTIL File
- Warhammer 40,000 (Audio) by THQ Inc.The aim of every person who plays Warhammer 40,000 is to pit their force of miniatures against other players across war-torn futuristic battlefields. This file format is classified as Audio. Related links: FDA Audio Conversion Thread
FDA file extension format:
To view or edit FDA files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the FDA files looks like this:
The FDA file type includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 30% of all FDA files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "FO" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 1 MB to 40 MB in size, with a median of 11 MB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The keywords @HW_INFO_03, FOCTFDA, @FDA_FILE_INFO( and DOCT are typical for these files. The file name eg_oct_fda.fda is typical for these files.
- 30% of all FDA files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "Relic Chunky " at the beginning. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are often between 33 KB and 10 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: DATAINFO, Relic Chunky, DATAFBIF, FileBurnInfo, RAW to FDA, DATADATA and PMFOLDFDA. These files can be linked to music, selection, theme, uamod, character, angels, death, loop and menu.
All the rest of the FDA files (40%) have different formats, the following 5 formats exist: MATLAB and RIFF. These files are often connected to here, filter, qualification or nanalysis. Just click the "Choose your .fda file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your FDA file is.
Technical Data for FDA File Extension
an fda data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with FDA files
- Associate the FDA file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest FDA file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Varies by origin update.
- To make sure that your FDA file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .FDA file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
