Opening a FED File

The FED file type is primarily associated with TED-XML Viewer.

FEDFile Extension FED
File extension: FED
File type:  data file

What is a FED file?

FED files mostly belong to TED-XML Viewer. FED files are not a single, universal format. They are used in different systems to hold structured data.
For example, one use is as an XML-based file used in electronic forms. In Bulgarian eForms, the file stores Tenders Electronic Daily form data. This usage is linked with a dedicated viewer, and more information is available at aop.bg.
Other FED files are deployed as ZIP archives in environments like Axway AMPLIFY Central. These files package API Gateway configurations and related data; see details at Axway documentation.
There are additional uses, such as:

  • Electronic forms and tax data: Used for French electronic forms and Slovak tax submissions.
  • Facial expression data: Employed by FaceFX Studio to capture and store facial movement data, useful in digital animation and gaming.
  • System and audio configurations: Seen in EASE Speaker System files and automated Clearing House data for financial processing.

Each version of a FED file is made to work with its specific software. To view your file, check its content. If it is plain text with XML tags, a text or XML viewer might work. If it appears as a compressed archive, use an archive utility.
FilExt.com note: Always use the software recommended by the system that produced the file, as mixing tools can lead to problems.

How to open a FED file

You need a suitable software like TED-XML Viewer to open a FED file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FED file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FED file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert FED files:

  1. TED-XML Viewer
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. FED files are often referred to as TED-XML Viewer data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
  2. FORMIK (Form Data) by Rastislav KORYTAR
FORMIK is a program to help fill in paper forms. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 46 6F 72 6D 45 64 69 6B 20, ASCII: FormEdik .

FED file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the FED files looks like this:

FED is not a common file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

All other FED files (45%) have different formats, often e.g. FEDIT. Often described as cerfa. You can get all the details of your FED file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .fed file to analyze" above.

How to solve problems with FED files

  • Associate the FED file extension with the correct application.
  • Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest FED file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available TED-XML Viewer update.
