All about F3D Files
The F3D file type is primarily associated with Fusion 360.
What is an F3D file?
How to open F3D files
You need a suitable software like Fusion 360 to open an F3D file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your F3D file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a F3D file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert F3D files:
- Fusion 360 by Autodesk
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. F3D files are often referred to as Fusion 360 3d images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Foam3D (data package) by Si RobertsonFoam3D is an open source 3D engine powered by ActionScript 3.0.. The F3D file created with Foam3D contains data describing a Foam3D entity and/or resource. This file format is classified as Data.
- MotoRacer (3D motorbike model) by Electronic ArtsMotor Racer is a legacy motorbike racing game for Windows operating system. It supports multiplayer and singleplayer modes. Users may play short race or choose career mode. Models of motorbikes used in Motor Racer are stored in F3D files. This file format is classified as 3D Image.
F3D file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the F3D files comes to the following conclusion:
The F3D extension is quite commonly used. The file itself predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 95% of all F3D files are based on the zip format, so several files are compressed and saved in one F3D file. Primarily 14 to 50 files are included. Common included file names are Manifest.dat, Properties.dat and \FusionAssetName[Active]\. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The file size is in the range of 89 KB to 8 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as FusionAssetName[Active]/PK, FusionAssetName[Active]/Breps.BlobParts/PK, FusionAssetName[Active]/Images.BlobParts/PK and ProteinAssets. These files can be linked to holder, assembly, fusion, phone, case, gear, mount, router, table and belt.
- 1% of all F3D files are MotoRacer 3 bike model files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. A typical file size is 53 KB.
All other F3D files (4%) have no consistent format. Often described as connector, injection, shredder, grinder, budget, design, engine, model, stand, voron, cage, card or nano. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your F3D file!
Technical Data for F3D File Extension
an f3d design archive is a special file format by Autodesk and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with F3D files
- Associate the F3D file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open design archives. Because only the current version supports the latest F3D file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Autodesk manufacturer website after an available Fusion 360 update.
- To make sure that your F3D file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .F3D file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
