Opening FID Files
The FID file type is primarily associated with FileMaker Pro.
What is a FID file?
Main uses:
FilExt.com tip: Examine the file’s internal structure or metadata to decide the correct program for opening it. Some files may also employ ZIP compression for layered data storage.
How to open a FID file
You need a suitable software like FileMaker Pro to open a FID file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FID file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FID file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

FID format details:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the FID files is as follows:
The FID extension is quite commonly used. The file itself includes many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 4% of all FID files start with the magic bytes Ïúíþ, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 4 MB. The keywords __TEXT, __PAGEZERO and __stubs are typical for these files.
- 1% of all FID files belong to NUTS format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are on average 260 KB in size and range from 66 KB to 260 KB.
The remaining 95% of all FID files are different files with different signatures. If you want to find out what your FID file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
