What is an FP2 file?

FP2 files mostly belong to Fuji X Raw Studio. The FP2 file extension does not refer to a single format but is used in several areas.
Below are common uses:

Fujifilm RAW Photo/Image: FP2 files here use the XML format to store raw data from Fujifilm cameras. They contain sensor data and film simulation info and work with specialized software such as Fuji X Raw Studio. More details are available at Fujifilm Global or Fujifilm Global.

MicroStation Design File: Other FP2 files follow the Microsoft Compound File format to hold design data used by Bentley’s MicroStation. For further information, see Bentley.

Flight Simulator Model File: Some FP2 files serve in flight simulation, where they store model data sometimes called FlashForth 2 Data Files.

Flux Probe Data File: A group of FP2 files contains probe measurement data, processed by programs like Generatortech’s ACQUIRE. Visit GeneratorTech for details.

How to open an FP2 file

You need a suitable software like Fuji X Raw Studio to open an FP2 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FP2 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FP2 file directly in the browser:. If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the FP2 files produces the following result:

As a file extension, FP2 isn't very common and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 25% of all FP2 files utilize the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Composite Document File format or OLE2 compound document format. This general-purpose file format provides a file-system-like structure within a file for the storage of arbitrary, application-specific streams of data. Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). FP2 files contain an app name MicroStation, Bentley Map PowerView, OpenCities Map Advanced or OpenCities Map PowerView. Sections and streams in the file are named Dgn-Md, Dgn^Ix, Dgn^Nm, Dgn~H, Dgn~Mf, Dgn~S, DocumentSummaryInformation, SummaryInformation and Dgn^NmA. The files are 40 KB to 150 KB in size, with a median of 87 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology.
• 15% of all FP2 files use the same file format, which have the signature 67 00 60 00 48 00 42 4D 36 51. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. Most of these files are 46 KB to 260 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: BM6Q. The following filename is common: AIRBUS.FP2.
