To find out what program is needed to open FXG files, you need to determine the file format. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. These files are often associated with logo and icon.
• 20% of all FXG files use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known by the name OLE2 Compound Document Format or Composite Document File Format. Compound document files work similarly to real file systems. They contain a number of independent data streams (like files in a file system) which are organized in a hierarchy of containers (like sub-directories in a file system). Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The CLSID (class identifier of a Windows component object) is 2e94acc1-2b8d-11d1-be27-00a02479a679. The file contains sections that are named something like VBAProject, CONTROLSAVESTREAM, FixThumbNail and SummaryInformation. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 14 KB to 6 MB. The file name User.fxg or FactoryGlobals.fxg is typical for these files. Such files sometimes refer to factory and globals.
