Opening a GL File
The GL file type is primarily associated with Geisha, Gerber Plotter.
What is a GL file
One type is a game archive file that acts as a container for game assets like images, audio, and configuration data. Files of this sort are associated with companies such as Geisha.
The other type uses the Gerber format to store plot data needed for PCB layout designs. These files are handled by software such as Gerber Plotter or GerberView and are used in technical drawing and circuit board planning.
How do you open GL files?
You need a suitable software like Geisha, Gerber Plotter to open a GL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GL file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

GL file format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the GL files is as follows:
GL is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type has no uniform or dominant file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 8% of all GL files start with the magic bytes 51 04 53 04 00 00 6D 61 69 6E 6C 6F 67 6F 2E 70, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 900 KB and 900 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 1.clp, 2.clp, 3.clp, 4.clp, 5.clp, 6.clp, 7.clp, ending.pic, fin1.clp, fin2.clp, mainlogo.pic and pal.pic. Some examples of file names are MANDY-2.GL.
- 8% of all GL files use the same file format, which have the signature SP1. These files contain text and words, not binary data. GL files are between 82 KB and 430 KB in size. Files like these are about plot.
All other GL files (84%) have no uniform format, often, for example, zlib and main. The category is feature, image, woman, alliance, maxihead or dayang. Just click the "Choose your .gl file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your GL file is.
