What is a GOLD file
How to open a GOLD file
You need a suitable software like WEKA to open a GOLD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GOLD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GOLD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

GOLD file format:
To view or edit GOLD files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the GOLD files is as follows:
As a file extension, GOLD isn't very common and has no uniform or dominant file format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 15% of all GOLD files use the same file format, which have the signature 500 . These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. A typical file size is 19 KB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as 500 0 0 15 38 9 11, 501 24 26 16 13 38 5 and 502 0 0 0 17 0 4. affectivetext_test.emotions.gold or affectivetext_test.valence.gold is a typical file name. These files are attributed to affectivetext, emotions and valence.
- 15% of all GOLD files start with the bytes 31 20, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. The file size is in the range of 1 KB to 4 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 1 22 2 60 0 64 0, 10 0 0 0 61 24 0 and 11 0 0 0 63 0 0. A common filename is affectivetext_trial.emotions.gold or affectivetext_trial.valence.gold. These files can be linked to trial.
All other GOLD files (70%) have no consistent format, such as CBC. They are often associated with cinque, terre, hepg, accuracy, subtask, garmin, cnndm or nuvi. Just click the "Choose your .gold file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your GOLD file is.
