What is a GSD file?

GSD files mostly belong to Profinet Commander by Panoramix. GSD is the filename extension of files containing smaller pieces of large files that have been split using GSplit file splitter. GSD is also the native file format for storing images (designs) created with the Silhouette family of graphics design software. GSD filename extension is associated with an XML-based Generic Station Description format used to store descriptions and configurations of hardware stations such as the PROFIBUS DP (Decentralized Peripherals), PROFINET IO, and Process Automation devices. These GSD files are written in a manner that allows users to transfer and import device profiles into various software configuration tools such as ProfinetCommander. How can I open a GSD file?

You need a suitable software like Profinet Commander to open a GSD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
