What is a GTE file?

GTE files mostly belong to Graphtec Data Logger. GTE files are not a single file type but are used in different systems.

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below you will find our evaluation of the GTE files:

GTE is not a common file extension and is primarily used by a single program. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 70% of all GTE files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "YREC" at the beginning. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are often between 3 KB and 610 KB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Language Code, Measure Data, Model, None, Sampling Interval, Serial No, Time Correction, Trigger Point, UTF-8, YREC, Equip Tag, Equip TagNo, File Header and Version 1.01.03. The file name 20180601_.GTE is typical for these files.
• 10% of all GTE files use ZIP compression, the GTE file contains a number of compressed files. A GTE file contains 30 to 240 files, the average being 109. Common included file names are GUI-GTD1.GTP, GUI-GTD1.GTS, ROM-BAS1.A10, ROM-COMM.INI, ROM-COMMEN1.A10, ROM-EXCMT1.A10, ROM-GOT1.A10, ROM-HQFONT1.A10, ROM-PACKAGE.A10, ROM-PARTS1.A10, ROM-WIN1.A10, SRC-B-1.BIN, SRC-B-1.GS1, SRC-C-1.GS1, SRC-COMMENT.GS1, SRC-COMMON.GS1, SRC-PARTS.GS1 and SRC-PROJECT.GS1. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are on average 180 KB in size and range from 21 KB to 690 KB. The files contain the following words: GUI-GTD2.GTP.
