What is a GV file

GV files mostly belong to Graphviz by The Graphviz Authors. A GV file is a graph written in DOT graph description language. Various tools bundled with Graphviz software package can render and perform calculations on such graphs. The contents of a GV file are saved as plain text representing an undirected graph describing a simple relationship or a directed graph which renders to complex structures such as dependency trees and flowcharts. A DOT graph representing A as the parent node to B and C may look as follows:

How to open a GV file

You need a suitable software like Graphviz to open a GV file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
