What is an HSR file?

HSR files mostly belong to HandiSoft Report. The HSR file is used in two different ways. In many cases, it is a HandiSoft Report file that uses a ZIP container for archiving report data like logs or statistics, sometimes also known as a Hancock & Hustler data file.
This means the file can be opened with standard ZIP extraction tools to view its internal components.
In other cases, the file is a HERO video data file. This version is designed for compressed game replay data and stores video segments that can be used to review game sessions.
Some users have found that renaming the file extension to .zip can help in examining its contents if it is a report archive.

How to open HSR files

You need a suitable software like HandiSoft Report to open an HSR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature.
