What is an RPT file?

RPT files mostly belong to Crystal Reports by SAP. An RPT file is a report created by Crystal Reports and other event and performance reporting tools. RPT is also the filename extension of reports generated by various programs and operating system utilities. Quattro Pro, Abaqus CAE, View, Arma 3, and the IGES Processor in Solidworks solid modelling software save reports in RPT files. Such reports are usually saved as text or compressed ZIP archives. Computer users can read an RPT file with a plain text editor. Another type of RPT file is a TrueNet FX print template. System Center system management software saves replication data in an RPT file.

How to open RPT files

You need a suitable software like Crystal Reports to open an RPT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RPT file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RPT file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

RPT format details:

To find out what program is needed to open RPT files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the RPT files is as follows:

RPT is a very common file type and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

The remaining 61% of all RPT files are different files with different signatures, the following 30 formats can be found: UTF-8, XML, UTF-16 (LE), ZIP, WordPerfect, UNION, JAMMU, PAGE, Laporan, Report, ACE and RPW. These files sometimes refer to tmpdaa, tmpcaa, tmpeaa, loan, bank or ftti. If you want to find out which format your RPT file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .rpt file to analyze".
