RPT format details:
To find out what program is needed to open RPT files, you need to determine the file format. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the RPT files is as follows:
RPT is a very common file type and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 35% of all RPT files use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also called Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. Microsoft Compound File is a complex container format used by some versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows-centric applications. It has features similar to those of a filesystem format. Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The internal app name of RPT files is Crystal Reports, Seagate Crystal Reports or SAP Crystal Reports. The data in this file is stored in streams whose names are Contents, SummaryInformation, ReportInfo, QESession and ReportParametersStream 0l. The files are on average 86 KB in size and range from 18 KB to 550 KB. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. Files like these are about report, crystal, list, invoice, viewer, sales, order and bill.
- 4% of all RPT files use the same file format, which have the signature PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The average file size is 12 KB with most files being between 7 KB and 66 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: PUNJAB NATIONAL BANK, Number, Phone and ------------. These files are often associated with tmpaaa and statement.
The remaining 61% of all RPT files are different files with different signatures, the following 30 formats can be found: UTF-8, XML, UTF-16 (LE), ZIP, WordPerfect, UNION, JAMMU, PAGE, Laporan, Report, ACE and RPW. These files sometimes refer to tmpdaa, tmpcaa, tmpeaa, loan, bank or ftti. If you want to find out which format your RPT file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .rpt file to analyze".
