What is an IS2 file?

IS2 files mostly belong to SmartView by Fluke. IS2 file type is associated with data files used in the thermal imager devices developed by Fluke.

• Main Use: Thermal imager devices are utilized in thermal imaging inspections of industrial electrical equipment like circuits and compressors. IS2 files store thermal image data created using thermal imager devices such as Ti90, Ti95, Ti100 series, and Ti200. This also includes image data such as raw and calibrated temperatures, RGB image information, and metadata that is recorded by the thermal imager devices. IS2 files, created by thermal imager devices save image information in the very same way how CR2 and DCR digital images taken using digital cameras are saved in a raw format. IS2 files recorded using thermal imager devices can be viewed on Windows PCs and iOS mobiles. On Windows PC, Fluke SmartView and Fluke Connect programs can be used to open IS2 files. On iOS devices, the Fluke SmartView Mobile application can be used to open IS2 files. These applications enable the infrared images in the IS2 files to be viewed, optimized, and analyzed smoothly.
• Other Uses: IS2 files are associated with the SmartWare programming application developed by SmartWare Corporation and is based on the FairCom database engine. The IS2 file saves input screen data.

How to open IS2 files

You need a suitable software like SmartView to open an IS2 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your IS2 file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a IS2 file directly in the browser:. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. IS2 files can be up to 2 MB in size, but are often around 160 KB - 520 KB. The keywords (:3=<9387@H\N@DWE78PmQW_bghg>Mqypdx\egc, /cB8Bccccccc, JFIF and Thumbnails/014000F0.jpgUT are typical for these files. Such files are related to chiller, composition, dataset, rabbit and level.
• 15% of all IS2 files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "00 01 00 01 00 00 00 00" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are often between 38 KB and 650 KB in size. The files contain the following words: Fluke. Examples of file names are IR20180601.IS2.
