What is a JAS file

JAS files mostly belong to Cheetah3D by Martin Wengenmayer. JAS is a file extension for graphics files containing 3D animations, models, polygons, visual effects, and primitive objects created using Cheetah3D, a Mac-based software for 3D modelling. 3D model files having a JAS extension can be converted to other 3D formats such as FBX. Another use of the JAS file extension can be found as bitmap graphics created using Paint Shop Pro, a graphics creation and editing software developed by Corel. Paint Shop Pro JAS files comprise 8 bits per pixel or 24 bits per pixel grayscale and color images respectively.

How to open a JAS file

You need a suitable software like Cheetah3D to open a JAS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 70 MB with most files being between 11 MB and 70 MB in size. The keywords RPA-3, Made with Ren'Py.RIFF, ALPH and WEBPVP8X are typical for these files. images.jas or script.jas is a typical file name.
