What is a JGW file?

JGW files mostly belong to Map File. JGW is a georeferenced file which is generated by the applications such as ArcGIS Desktop. Usually data is in normal text format and it contains the reference co-ordinates for a corresponding raster JPG file. User can add it with other JPEG files.

How to open JGW files

You need a suitable software like Map File to open a JGW file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 6% of all JGW files have the same signature 31 2E. These files contain text and words, not binary data. JGW files are between 53 bytes and 90 bytes in size.
