Opening JNB Files
The JNB file type is primarily associated with SigmaPlot.
What is a JNB file?
They use the Microsoft Compound File format to bundle different streams of data into one container.
This design lets SigmaPlot save a project’s full state in a single file.
How to open JNB files
You need a suitable software like SigmaPlot to open a JNB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your JNB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a JNB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

JNB file format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the JNB files:
JNB is a very widely used file extension. The file type mainly uses a defined JNB format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 99% of all JNB files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This file format is used by previous Microsoft Office programs and other Windows programs and stores the data in complex containers and sections. The first 8 bytes of the CFB format are D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. Most of these files are 35 KB to 880 KB in size. The file type is very old but is also used today. Files like these are sometimes connected to notebook, data, figure, figures, graphs, graph, analysis and loop.
All other JNB files (1%) have no consistent format. These files sometimes refer to plot, tazo, results, curve, plots or sigma. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your JNB file!

How to solve problems with JNB files
- Associate the JNB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open notebook files. Because only the current version supports the latest JNB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available SigmaPlot update.
- To make sure that your JNB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .JNB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
