Opening KSP Files
The KSP file type is primarily associated with KeyShot.
What is a KSP file?
The KSP file is a KeyShot Package used by KeyShot to store a complete 3D project. Internally, it is a ZIP archive that holds all the assets, settings, and scene data needed to recreate a project.
You can open a KSP file with the KeyShot software. The package bundles important elements such as:
FilExt.com note: Although extraction tools for ZIP archives may let you see the contents, using KeyShot preserves the file structure and ensures proper loading of the project. For detailed information, visit the KeyShot website.
How to open a KSP file
You need a suitable software like KeyShot to open a KSP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your KSP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a KSP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert KSP files:
- KeyShot
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. KSP files are often referred to as KeyShot compresseds because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- KeyShotA *.KSP file is a KeyShot Package, the native project file format used by KeyShot, a 3D rendering and animation software. It stores all the scene elements, including 3D models, materials, lighting, cameras, and animation data, allowing users to save and load their entire project. The file format is based on the ZIP archive format, which means it can be opened with archive managers to access individual components, although modifying them directly is not recommended. KeyShot packages are primarily used for creating photorealistic images and animations of 3D models. This file format is classified as 3D Graphics.
KSP file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below is our analysis of the KSP files:
The KSP file ending is primarily used by a single program. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 95% of all KSP files internally use the ZIP format, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one KSP file. Primarily 1 to 14 files are included. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. A typical file size is 37 MB. These files are often associated with keyshot, package, render, mate, rendering, ganbo, model and phone.
- 2% of all KSP files are based on the popular UnityFS file format. UnityFS is short for "Unity File System". This Unity Game Engine package is a bundle of several compressed Unity assets. Each asset may contain 2D texture, text resources, music files, scene objects, etc. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 150 KB and 6 MB in size. The files contain the following words: UnityFS.
All other KSP files (3%) have no consistent format. If you want to find out what your KSP file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
Technical Data for KSP File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

a ksp archive is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with KSP files
- Associate the KSP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open archives. Because only the current version supports the latest KSP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available KeyShot update.
- To make sure that your KSP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .KSP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
