What is a LOP file?

LOP files mostly belong to LockoutPro. Lockout Procedure (LOP) files store machine-specific lockout/tagout instructions. These files use an internal ZIP format to compress several related documents into one archive.

• They contain step-by-step safety procedures for de-energizing and securing equipment.
• They are produced by LockoutPro software for targeted machinery.
• The ZIP structure allows grouping multiple safety documents, checklists, or instructions.
• They can be opened with LockoutPro or any standard ZIP extraction tool.

How can I open a LOP file?

You need a suitable software like LockoutPro to open a LOP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LOP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LOP file directly in the browser:. To view or edit LOP files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. LOP is not a commonly used file extension and predominantly uses a uniform format. The following file formats are most commonly found in LOP files:

• 70% of all LOP files use ZIP compression, that is, a LOP file includes multiple compressed files. The average file count is 6 with most LOP files containing between 4 - 9 compressed files.
