Opening an LPA File
The LPA file type is primarily associated with Label Printer Assistant.
What is an LPA file?
These files contain specific data such as text positioning, barcode codes, and graphic placements that the printer uses to produce a label.
Most LPA files are associated with a Label Printer Application used by Label Printer Assistant, while others work with systems for barcode label printing.
- File Purpose: Store label design details.
- Use Cases: Instructions for both general label printing and barcode label production.
They are not standard text documents and require the original software to view and edit their content.

LPA file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the LPA files produces the following result:
The LPA file extension is mainly used by one program with a specific format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 80% of all LPA files start with the bytes 11 20 01 00 crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are often between 28 KB and 1 MB in size. It is a modern file type. The following keywords are characteristic: labelrows, labelcols, marginleft, marginright, margintop and labelspacex. A common filename is nutrition2.lpa or price7.lpa. Such LPA files store data about shipping, nametag, wine, beer, cosmetic, barcode, product and labels.
- 15% of all LPA files have the same signature 93 B2 00 00. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. LPA files can be up to 3 MB in size, but are often around 19 KB - 860 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. BarcodeLabelPrinter, lotoware, labelrows, labelcols, marginleft, papersize and margintop. The file name label.lpa is characteristic of these files.
All other LPA files (5%) have no consistent format. You can get all the details of your LPA file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .lpa file to analyze" above.
