Opening a MACRO File
The MACRO file type is primarily associated with MacroDroid.
What is a MACRO file?
How do you open MACRO files?
You need a suitable software like MacroDroid to open a MACRO file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MACRO file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MACRO file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

MACRO file extension format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the MACRO files:
MACRO is not a commonly used file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 40% of all MACRO files save the data in JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. The contents of these files can even be read by a human. MACRO files can be up to 100 KB in size, but are often around 1 KB - 40 KB. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. The keywords false, isActionBlock, disabledTimestamp, forceEvenIfNotEnabledTimestamp, isExtra, isFavourite, exportedActionBlocks, isBeingImported, isClonedInstance and macro are typical for these files. An example of a file name is PUV_v_2.0.macro or PUV_v_1.22.macro. Files like these are sometimes connected to uber.
- 7% of all MACRO files are based on the well-known PDF file format. PDF is short for Portable Document Format, is a file format to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. MACRO files can be up to 87 KB in size, but are often around 21 KB - 86 KB. These files can be linked to solucions, entrega and ejercicios.
All other MACRO files (53%) have no consistent format, often e.g. UTF-16 (LE), Macros and FKFGFFFFFF. You can get all the details of your MACRO file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .macro file to view" above.

How to solve problems with MACRO files
- Associate the MACRO file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open automation script files. Because only the current version supports the latest MACRO file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available MacroDroid update.
- To make sure that your MACRO file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
