Opening MFK Files
The MFK file type is primarily associated with Game engine/editor.
What is an MFK file?
Other uses include:
- Mission Files: These define mission layouts and scripts for titles such as The Simpsons: Hit & Run. More details are available at the Simpsons Hit & Run Wiki.
- Reward Data Files: In games like Neverwinter Nights and Mass Effect 3, the MFK file can store reward data essential for game progression.
- Measurement Data Files: Some MFK files are produced by systems like the AGFA Magnetomorphic Measurement System. They record magnetic field data for technical analysis.
The file structure is proprietary. Opening such files with a basic text editor may show binary or coded data. Use the appropriate game editor or measurement tool for proper interfacing with the file.
FilExt.com tip: Always back up the file before attempting any modifications.
How to open an MFK file
You need a suitable software like Game engine/editor to open an MFK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MFK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MFK file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert MFK files:
- Game engine/editor
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. MFK files are often referred to as Game engine/editor games because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- MafukaThe Mafuka encoder was a joke. It took an MP3 file, divided it in three, renamed the first part to .MFK and hid the other parts. For playback the files were merged together. This gave people the impression that the actual audio had been "compressed" to one third its original size. The name is thought to be a shortened form of a slang expression. This file format is classified as Audio. Related links: Really Rare Wares
MFK format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the MFK files comes to the following conclusion:
MFK is rarely used as a file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The file formats most commonly found in MFK files are:
- 25% of all MFK files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "SelectMission("" at the beginning. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The average file size is 2 KB with most files being between 1 KB and 3 KB in size. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as AddStage(0);, SelectMission("bm1");, UsePedGroup(5);, SetMissionResetPlayerInCar("bm1_carstart");, SetDynaLoadData("l1z7.p3d;l1r6.p3d;l1r7.p3d;"); and SetPresentationBitmap( "art/frontend/dynaloa. The file name bm1i.mfk or m7i.mfk is characteristic of these files.
- 20% of all MFK files start with the bytes Load, which are crucial for this file format. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are on average 360 bytes in size and range from 180 bytes to 460 bytes. The keywords level, LoadDisposableCar, cars, LoadP3DFile("art\cards.p3d");, LoadP3DFile("art\l01_fx.p3d","GMA_LEVEL_OTHER");, LoadP3DFile("art\missions\generic\fflag.p3d");, LoadP3DFile("art\missions\generic\wflag and LoadP3DFile("art\wrench.p3d"); are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are ss.mfk or bm1l.mfk.
All other MFK files (55%) have no uniform format, such as Source and AddMission. These files are often connected to field, dependence, rwrds, pyrrhotite, hematite, dependent or magnetite. If you want to find out which format your MFK file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .mfk file to analyze".
Technical Data for MFK File Extension
an mfk data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with MFK files
- Associate the MFK file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest MFK file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Game engine/editor update.
- To make sure that your MFK file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .MFK file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
