All about MJS Files
The MJS file type is primarily associated with NodeJS.
What is an MJS file
How can I open an MJS file?
You need a suitable software like NodeJS to open an MJS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MJS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MJS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

MJS file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the MJS files looks like this:
As a file extension, MJS isn't very common and mainly uses a special format. The file formats most commonly found in MJS files are:
- 80% of all MJS files start with the magic bytes (window.__LOADABLE_LOADED_CHUNKS__=window.__LOADAB, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are on average 130 KB in size and range from 13 KB to 1 MB. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. The keywords __LOADABLE_LOADED_CHUNKS__, push, window, function and return are typical for these files. Files like these have the following tags: authdesktop, polyfills, client, common, unauthdesktop, desktop, page, locale, search, lite and save.
- 10% of all MJS files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "(self." at the beginning. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The file size is in the range of 9 KB to 1 MB. The files contain the following words: push, self and __LOADABLE_LOADED_CHUNKS__.
The remaining 10% of all MJS files are different files with different signatures. Just click the "Choose your .mjs file to view" button on this page to find out what your MJS file is.

an mjs module is a special file format by OpenJS Foundation and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with MJS files
- Associate the MJS file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open modules. Because only the current version supports the latest MJS file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the OpenJS Foundation manufacturer website after an available NodeJS update.
- To make sure that your MJS file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .MJS file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
