What is an MXML file?

MXML files mostly belong to Flex by Adobe. An MXML file is a user interface component of a rich web application created with Flex software development kit. Such an MXML file contains XML-encoded data defining ActionScript code and static data for a Flash-based app's user interface. Flex was originally developed by Macromedia and later acquired by Adobe which donated Flex to Apache.
