What is an NCD file?

NCD files mostly belong to CoverDesigner by Nero. NCD filename extension is associated with files containing DVD or CD labels and artwork created with CoverDesigner, a program for creating album/DVD cover designs. CoverDesigner is distributed as part of Nero multimedia suite and its NCD files comprise images, text, and layout settings that make up the label or cover art design of a compact disc. NCD is also the filename extension for the default disk image format used by CD Maker disc burning and file backup software. These NCD files contain an exact copy of information extracted from a compact disc. Media Maker Express, the successor of CD Maker also supports NCD disk image format. ISE Design Suite, a computer toolkit for designing and developing embedded, DSP, and logic systems, saves native circuit descriptions in NCD files.

How do you open NCD files?

You need a suitable software like CoverDesigner to open an NCD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your NCD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a NCD file directly in the browser:. The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. The NCD file extension includes various formats for various programs. The two most popular formats are as follows:

50% of all NCD files are Nero CoverDesigner files. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. Most of these files are 10 KB to 10 MB in size. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. The following keywords are characteristic: COVER EDITOR, IHDR and IDATx. Files like these have the following tags: cover, label, bilder, nero and tour, and have often person-related content.
15% of all NCD files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "88 CD 77 CD 00 00 00 00" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 11 MB to 1 GB in size. Such files are related to music, tekster, udtale, dansk, thorborg, lisbet and audio.

All other NCD files (35%) have no uniform format, often e.g. XML, zlib and COVER. These files sometimes refer to oldies, cafd, last, patientfortegnelse, haalgschrey, christmas or best. Just click the "Choose your .ncd file to view this image" button on this page to find out what your NCD file is.
