How to open PARAMS files

You need a suitable software like MXNet to open a PARAMS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the PARAMS files:

The PARAMS file type includes different formats for different programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 40% of all PARAMS files start with the bytes 12 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 crucial for this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. PARAMS files are between 430 KB and 210 MB in size. It is a modern file type. Examples of file names are model_algo_1-0000.params or model-0000.params. Such files are related to resnet, algo, coco, flownet, autoencoder, best and ucsd.
• 15% of all PARAMS files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "# Onboard parameters for Vehicle 1" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. The average file size is 19 KB with most files being between 18 KB and 24 KB in size. The files contain the following words: # Onboard parameters for Vehicle 1, # Vehicle-Id Component-Id Name Value Type, # Stack: ArduPilot, ACRO_TURN_RATE, # Git Revision: 318a941, # Vehicle: Unknown, # Version: 3.4.2 and 50.00000000000000000. A usual file name is Box Boat.params or BoxBoat.params. Such files are related to catamarand.
