What is a PLP file?

PLP files mostly belong to Photo Editor. PLP files are not a single, uniform file type. They are used as project files in different photo and layout applications.
For example, one common use is as a PixelLab project file that stores work for a photo editor. These files often use a compressed ZIP structure to hold all the project elements.
Other applications save PLP files with embedded image data.
  • Photo Editor Projects: Some PLP files keep layered editing information. They are built using a ZIP container and may include XML data that defines the project structure.
  • Embedded Image Files: In a few cases, the data inside uses PNG or JPG formats. Such files can be associated with programs like Snapchat (Snapchat) or XnView (XnView), saving a processed image rather than a full project.
  • Layout and Log Files: Some PLP files hold layout designs (for example, ACD FotoSlate project files used by ACDSee, see ACDSee) or even serve as program log files, like the Parallel program log.
  • FilExt.com tips: The actual content of a PLP file depends on the originating application. To see the parts inside a ZIP‐structured PLP file, one can sometimes change the file extension to .zip and open it with archive software. However, it is best opened in the program that created it so the project data or image is properly rendered.

How to open a PLP file

You need a suitable software like Photo Editor to open a PLP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PLP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PLP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

    PLP file extension format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the PLP files produces the following result:

PLP is one of the most common file extensions and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

All other PLP files (30%) have no consistent format, often, for example, Messenger Plus, JPG, XML, DOC, File, FUah, plp and JZw. These files sometimes refer to project, wedding, param, photo, pack or maya. If you want to find out what your PLP file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
