PM4 files mostly belong to Adobe PageMaker. The PM4 file is a document created by Adobe PageMaker 4, a desktop publishing tool. It stores layout data that includes page setup, formatted text, images, and graphic objects.

How can I open a PM4 file?

An PM4 file is primarily used by a single program. But the following two file formats are common:

• 80% of all PM4 files are associated with Aldus PageMaker document. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The files are 21 KB to 530 KB in size, with a median of 100 KB. The file type was used 20 years ago. These files are often associated with gachis, feii, chap and cursillo.
• 3% of all PM4 files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Composite Document File format or OLE2 compound document format. This Windows file format has features similar to those of a filesystem format with virtual files and subfolders. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". The file contains sections Contents. The average file size is 950 KB with most files being between 70 KB and 4 MB in size.
