What is a PNC file?

PNC files mostly belong to Cabinet Vision. PNC files serve two distinct roles.
For many files, they act as CNC machine files in manufacturing. These files use an internal JetDB format and are known as Cabinet Vision Pattern Files. How can I open a PNC file?

You need a suitable software like Cabinet Vision to open a PNC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PNC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PNC file directly in the browser:. Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. PNC is seldom used as a file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 30% of all PNC files are associated with Panasonic Network Camera compressed images. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. • 25% of all PNC files use the popular JetDB file format. The JetDB is a database format often used by Microsoft Access and Visual Basic programs. JET is short for Joint Engine Technology. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are on average 290 KB in size and range from 110 KB to 760 KB. The files contain the following words: Standard Jet DB. ~PSNC~.pnc is a typical file name.
