What is a POH file?

POH files mostly belong to ProShow Gold. POH files can refer to one of two specific file types, each tied to its own software environment.
In the primary use case, a POH file is a ProShow output history file. It logs the details of slideshow projects made with ProShow Gold or ProShow Producer. This file holds data about timeline settings, transitions, and the export process, serving as a record of the project’s development.
Another variant of POH comes from Paint Shop Pro. Here, the file is based on the PNG image format and is known as a Portable Object Handler file. It is used to manage image data specific to the application's workflow.
How to open and view these files:

If the file is from ProShow, open it with ProShow Gold or ProShow Producer.

If the file is linked to Paint Shop Pro, use Paint Shop Pro or any image viewer that supports PNG formats.

How to open POH files

You need a suitable software like ProShow Gold to open a POH file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 80% of all POH files start with the bytes outputHistoryCount=, which are crucial for this file format. The content consists of readable text data, which can be read using a text editor. The file size is in the range of 22 bytes to 550 bytes. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: outputHistoryCount=0, dateTimeHigh, dateTimeLow, location, outputHistory[0].status=1 and outputHistory[0].type=1. An example of a file name is ProShow Slideshow.poh or ProShow Slideshow 1.poh. Files like these have the following tags: movie, wedding, family and video.
• 15% of all POH files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "‰POH" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 32 KB to 32 KB in size, with a median of 32 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. IHDR, pHYs, sRGB and IDATx. Examples of file names are magic.poh.
