How to open PPAM files
You need a suitable software like Microsoft PowerPoint to open a PPAM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PPAM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PPAM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PPAM files:
- Microsoft PowerPoint
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PPAM files are often referred to as Microsoft PowerPoint plugins because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Power Point (Microsoft Office Open XML Format Add-in With Macros) by Microsoft CorporationThis is the new format for Microsoft Office documents. It is a combination of XML architecture and ZIP compression for size reduction. Microsoft promises the format will be open (published for anyone to use) and prior versions of Office, using components provided by Microsoft for Office 2000, XP, and 2003 will be available to perform document conversion. Remember that these are promises by Microsoft. We have yet to see the actuals. This format is not the same as the OpenDocument standard, also an XML-based standard being developed as a true open standard (see the OpenDocument Fellowship for more information). The Mime types used with this association are: application/vnd.ms-powerpoint.addin.macroEnabled.12. PPAM file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. File extension, signature and file format must match; otherwise errors will occur when the file is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our examination of the PPAM files comes to the following conclusion:
The PPAM file extension is not found very often and is mainly used by one program with a specific format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 90% of all PPAM files use ZIP compression, i.e. a PPAM file contains several compressed files. A PPAM file contains 5 to 14 files, the average being 6. File names are e.g. [Content_Types].xml, \_rels\.rels, \ppt\_rels\presentation.xml.rels, \ppt\presentation.xml and \ppt\vbaProject.bin. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The files are on average 27 KB in size and range from 7 KB to 470 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: [Content_Types].xml. Such files sometimes refer to ribbon, macro, toolbar, iguana, point, powerpoint, invoice, power, slide, tools and menu.
All other PPAM files (10%) have no uniform format. Files like these are sometimes linked to order, list, specifications, presentation, deloitte, radius, addin, brand, round or timer. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your PPAM file!

How to solve problems with PPAM files
- Associate the PPAM file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open add-ins. Because only the current version supports the latest PPAM file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Microsoft PowerPoint update.
- To make sure that your PPAM file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PPAM file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
