Opening a PSR File
The PSR file type is primarily associated with InfoMaker.
What is a PSR file
How can I open a PSR file?
You need a suitable software like InfoMaker to open a PSR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PSR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PSR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PSR files:
- InfoMaker by Appeon
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PSR files are often referred to as InfoMaker page layouts because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- PowerBuilder (report) by AppeonPowerBuilder is an integrated development environment for creating Windows applications with DataWindow technology. It saves a report in a PSR. This file format is classified as Page Layout.
- Project Scheduler (resource) by ScitorProject Scheduler is a discontinued project management and task automation software for Windows desktop. It saves a resource in a PSR file. This file format is classified as Data.
PSR file format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the PSR files is as follows:
You will often come across the PSR file type. This includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 50% of all PSR files are PowerSoft DataWindow - DataStore files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 270 KB with most files being between 69 KB and 1 MB in size. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Platform independent PSR File Format, Copyright Sybase, Inc. 1997 and Users. Examples of file names are B_R_S_FIRE_-_SECURITY_LIMITED(I)960((X)Comb_Inc_RR_SaveAs_NoRet)_X_20180601.PSR or B_R_S_FIRE_-_SECURITY_LIMITED(S)960((O)Operator_Comments_SaveAs)_O_20180601.PSR. Files like these are about save, fire, security, limited, comb, carton, noret and label.
- 35% of all PSR files use the Microsoft Compound File format, also known as Composite Document File format or OLE2 compound document format. This is a complex container format used by earlier versions of Microsoft Office and other Windows programs. The file signature of compound files is defined as D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1, so the first character of a file looks like "DOCFILE". The file contains several sections with names like data, neststg, object, source, olestg, dwstg, FSInfo, RSM and original_data. PSR files are between 48 KB and 660 KB in size. Files like these have the following tags: report, invoice, workshop, billing, harrier, auto and data.
All other PSR files (15%) have no consistent format, often, for example, Source. Often described as comments, operator, systems, export, summary or sites. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your PSR file!
Technical Data for PSR File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

a psr report is a special file format by Appeon and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with PSR files
- Associate the PSR file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open reports. Because only the current version supports the latest PSR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Appeon manufacturer website after an available InfoMaker update.
- To make sure that your PSR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PSR file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
