All about PTN Files
The PTN file type is primarily associated with PaperPort.
What is a PTN file?
- Main Use: The PTN file extension is most commonly used to store information about thumbnails by PaperPort, a document management program developed by Naunce. The program provides Optical Character Recognition(OCR) features for digitizing scanned documents, and internally uses PTN files to store the thumbnail information. Multiple PTN and PTN2 files are stored for each document directory, but they are recreated each time they are absent from the directory, e.g they have been deleted.
- Adoption: Other programs have made use of this extension including CADKEY, a design program for mechanical engineers, Embird, a program designed for creating embroidery designs, and Docklight, a program for simulating device communication over protocols.
How to open a PTN file
You need a suitable software like PaperPort to open a PTN file. If you cannot open your PTN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PTN file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.
