What is a QTX file?

QTX files mostly belong to ColorReader by Datacolor. A QTX file is an extension (usually a third-party audio codec) used by QuickTime media player. It provides tools required to play or convert media formats that are not natively supported by QuickTime. Another type of QTX file is a color sample used to transfer color information between Datacolor products and programs such as SpyderX and ColorReader. This file contains repeating blocks of standard and associated batch data sections saved as ASCII text. QTX is also the filename extension of a tax transfer data file created by Quicken finance management software. QSetup Windows setup creator saves data in aQTX file.

How to open QTX files

You need a suitable software like ColorReader to open a QTX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your QTX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a QTX file directly in the browser:. To view or edit QTX files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. QTX is a very widely used file extension. The file type mainly uses a defined QTX format. The following file formats are most commonly found in QTX files:

• 90% of all QTX files belong to Datacolor QTX format. The files are using the common file format config. A configuration file is used by computer software to store settings. It consists of a text-based content with a structure and syntax comprising key–value pairs for properties, and sections that organize the properties. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. The file size is in the range of 470 bytes to 12 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. STD_NAME, STD_DATETIME, STD_GUID, [STANDARD_DATA 0], STD_REFLPOINTS, STD_FRM_FILE_NAME=, STD_REFLLOW, STD_CreationDATE, STD_Creation_DATETIME, STD_VIEWING and STD_REFLINTERVAL=10. Files like these have the following tags: coloro, black, blue, target, color, corporation, archroma and green.
• 1% of all QTX files have the same signature M±ÛÑCÝl. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. QTX files can be up to 2 MB in size, but are often around 2 MB - 2 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. 7$CDH. The following filename is common: 1007_Event_CG1.qtx. Files like these have the following tags: event.
