What is an R3D file?

R3D files mostly belong to READCINE-X PRO by RED. R3D is the default file format used to store high-resolution videos captured with Red cameras. Such R3D files are contain lossy-compressed audio and video content shot in 4K. The video contents of R3D files are compressed with REDCODE codec and the videos are stored in a proprietary format that is playable in REDCINE-X PRO software. Third-party video editing tools such as Premiere Pro and After Effects can also be used to play R3D videos. R3D filename extension is also used by 3D models created with RISA-3D, a structural design and analysis software. An R3D model file contains keyword-delimited data representing materials, building parameters, load combinations, and structural elements used to render and analyze the 3D structure of a building.

How can I open an R3D file?

You need a suitable software like READCINE-X PRO to open an R3D file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
