All about RNP Files
The RNP file type is primarily associated with Renga BIM System.
What is an RNP file?
RNP files are specialized project files used by the Renga BIM System to store architecture project data. Their internal structure is based on a ZIP archive, which bundles together design data, settings, and building components.
When you open an RNP file, you are accessing a complete set of project assets designed for managing building information. This format ensures that all relevant elements of a project are available in one compressed package. For more specialized details, visit the Renga BIM System.
- Format: ZIP-based archive
- Usage: Architecture project management
- Access: Opens with Renga BIM System
- Content: Consolidated building design and project data
FilExt.com note: Using standard ZIP tools may reveal the internal files, but effective processing requires the original BIM software to maintain data integrity.
How to open an RNP file
You need a suitable software like Renga BIM System to open an RNP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RNP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RNP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert RNP files:
- Renga BIM System
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. RNP files are often referred to as Renga BIM System cads because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Renga BIM SystemAn *.RNP file is a Renga Architecture Project file format primarily associated with the Renga BIM System. It encapsulates architectural project data within a ZIP-based structure. This format facilitates the storage and exchange of building information modeling (BIM) data specific to architectural designs created within the Renga software environment. This file format is classified as CAD file.
RNP file format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our examination of the RNP files comes to the following conclusion:
The RNP file ending mainly uses a defined RNP format. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 97% of all RNP files use ZIP compression, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one RNP file. RNP files contain from 4 to 16 compressed files. Common included file names are assoc_dim_data.xml, checksum, metadata, preview.png, project.dat, relationGraph.graph and routeSettings.xml. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. Most of these files are 1 MB to 16 MB in size. The keywords metadata and checksum are typical for these files. Files like these are sometimes connected to renga, proekt, cdfbf, eeac, apartment, building, kursovoy, rabota, shkola, ysptfo, jgggg, myrjq, fqab and zags.
All the rest of the RNP files (3%) have different formats. If you want to find out which format your RNP file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .rnp file to analyze".
Technical Data for RNP File Extension
an rnp project file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with RNP files
- Associate the RNP file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project files. Because only the current version supports the latest RNP file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Renga BIM System update.
- To make sure that your RNP file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .RNP file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
