What is an RSR file?

RSR files mostly belong to Poser by Bondware. RSR is a proprietary raster graphics format used to store thumbnails of 3D models in libraries within Poser, a 3D application for creating human models and poses. Images stored in RSR files are used to render previews of 3D models and the file typically has the same base filename as the PZ2 material pose file. 4th Dimension relational database management system stores its database resource fork in an RSR file. Some license related information used by KaleidaGraph graphing software are also saved in files with RSR filename extension.

How to open an RSR file

You need a suitable software like Poser to open an RSR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK.
