What is an S00 file?

S00 files mostly belong to ZipSplitter by Lithops. S00 files are part of a multi-volume archive created by ZipSplitter.

• Main Usage: ZipSplitter was developed by Lithops and is used to split large files into more manageable parts. This is often done to allow the file to be transferred, such as through email, as there are typically limits on file sizes when transferring data in this manner. The S00 file is the first file created by this program when splitting the original file. Subsequent parts are named using the S01 extension, then the S02 extension, and so on. This file extension is similar to the C00 or R0 file extension, used by WinACE and WinRAR, respectively. Both of these other extensions serve a similar purpose as the first part of a multi-volume archive. However, S00 files differ from these other formats as they are not necessarily parts of a compressed archive, but can be any created from any large file.

How can I open an S00 file?

You need a suitable software like ZipSplitter to open an S00 file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
