What is an SDPC file?

SDPC files mostly belong to SQUID / SolidDesigner. The SDPC file extension is used in two very different areas.

Digital Pathology Container: This type of file is a Slidepath Digital Pathology Container. It holds high‐resolution slide images and the data that goes with them. In many cases, it is also known as a Hamamatsu NDPI slide image. Such files are managed with software provided by SQUID and can be viewed using tools like Hamamatsu NDP.view2.

3D CAD Model File: In another use, a SDPC file contains 3D design data from SolidDesigner. This file carries geometric and modeling information used in computer‐aided design. More details are available on the PTC website for those using related CAD applications.

How to open an SDPC file

You need a suitable software like SQUID / SolidDesigner to open an SDPC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. 20% of all SDPC files start with the bytes 52 7A 00 00, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. Most of these files are 16 KB to 1 MB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: Modeling, VERSION, x64 edition, Creo, Direct and Elements.
