What is an AMI file?

AMI files mostly belong to SIIA, AutoCAD Mechanical, ActiLife. AMI files are specialized data containers that hold different types of domain‐specific information.
They are used in several ways:

How can I open an AMI file?

You need a suitable software like SIIA, AutoCAD Mechanical, ActiLife to open an AMI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. As a file extension, AMI isn't very common and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 25% of all AMI files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "10 10 00 40" at the beginning. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The average file size is 5 MB with most files being between 3 MB and 16 MB in size. It is a modern file type. The files contain the following words: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="no" ?> and <SIIAGroup xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XML. The file name greag_20180601.ami is characteristic of these files.
• 20% of all AMI files are using the well-known GZIP file format to store the data. Gzip is a compressed archive file format. Gzip (GNU zip) is only capable of compressing a single file. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. AMI files can be up to 2 MB in size, but are often around 33 KB - 430 KB.
