Opening an SNI File
The SNI file type is primarily associated with Standard Jet DB.
What is an SNI file?
JetDB Database File: This is the primary form. In this use, the file stores structured data using the JetDB engine. It acts as a container for database records and is managed by Standard Jet DB tools.
Serial Number Information: Some SNI files hold serial number data from Hitachi handheld terminals and clinical analyzers. More details are available at Hitachi.
Windows Installer Patch: Other SNI files are built as Windows executables. They serve as installer patch files within the Microsoft Windows environment. Visit Microsoft Windows for additional information.
Sierra Entertainment Game Music: A few SNI files store game music data related to Sierra Entertainment projects. Check Snipaste for further details.
FilExt.com tip: To determine the exact purpose, it is useful to inspect the file header and verify which internal format is used. This will indicate whether the file functions as a database, a serial number record, an installer patch, or an audio asset.
How to open SNI files
You need a suitable software like Standard Jet DB to open an SNI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SNI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SNI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SNI files:
- Standard Jet DB
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SNI files are often referred to as Standard Jet DB databases because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.

- SynthEyes (Scene File) by Andersson Technologies LLCAndersson Technologies LLC is the developer of SynthEyes, a camera tracking (a.k.a. match-moving) and stabilization software application. Use SynthEyes for animated critter insertion, fixing shaky shots, virtual set extension, architectural previews, accident reconstruction, virtual product placement, face and body capture, and more. This file format is classified as Database.
SNI file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the SNI files comes to the following conclusion:
SNI is seldom used as a file extension and includes different formats for different programs. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all SNI files save the data in JetDB file format. The JetDB is a database format often used by Microsoft Access and Visual Basic programs. JET is short for Joint Engine Technology. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. SNI files can be up to 120 MB in size, but are often around 730 KB - 13 MB. It is a modern file type. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Standard Jet DB. An example of a file name is configue.sni. Such SNI files store data about arre.
- 15% of all SNI files start with the bytes 07 00, which are crucial for this file format. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are on average 32 KB in size and range from 5 KB to 540 KB. The keywords Hitachi are typical for these files. Examples of file names are SNData_20180601.SNI or SN_USER1_USD_20180601.sni. Files like these have the following tags: user.
The remaining 65% of all SNI files are different files with different signatures, such as EXE, MSTARSEMIUSFDCIS and songs. These files sometimes refer to flash, easycall, mdksound, backup or chemin. If you want to find out what your SNI file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

an sni database file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with SNI files
- Associate the SNI file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open database files. Because only the current version supports the latest SNI file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Standard Jet DB update.
- To make sure that your SNI file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
