What is an SSCM file?
This file appears in two common forms:
How to open an SSCM file
You need a suitable software like Samsung Smart Switch to open an SSCM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SSCM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SSCM file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SSCM files:
- Samsung Smart Switch
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SSCM files are often referred to as Samsung Smart Switch backups because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Samsung Smart SwitchThe *.sscm file extension is primarily associated with Samsung Smart Switch, a software application used to transfer data between Samsung devices and computers. These files typically contain calendar data backups created by Smart Switch, often stored within a ZIP archive. While less common, the *.sscm extension can also be related to system configuration files used by Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). In such cases, the files may contain settings and configurations for managing enterprise systems. It's important to note that the *.sscm extension might also be encountered in other, less frequent contexts, such as with specific Samsung device calendar files or even unrelated software like SuperMemo. This file format is classified as Backup & Data.
SSCM file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the SSCM files comes to the following conclusion:
As a file extension, SSCM isn't very common and mainly uses a special format. The file formats most commonly found in SSCM files are:
- 90% of all SSCM files are based on the zip format, so several files are compressed and saved in one SSCM file. The 4 to 6 compressed files are called CALENDER.zip, Calendar.bk, SSMDummyValue.exml, SmartSwitchBackup.json and \\Calendar_1.ics. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The average file size is 470 KB with most files being between 58 KB and 1 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as Calendar.bk. The following filename is common: Calendar.sscm.
- 8% of all SSCM files store the data in the SAMSUNG file format. The file is a SAMSUNG Kies backup file, used to backup and recover from Samsung devices using Kies. Samsung has released new software to replace Kies, named Samsung Smart Switch, which is mainly directed at migrating customers onto new Samsung devices. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. Most of these files are 26 KB to 880 KB in size. Calendar.sscm is a typical file name.
All other SSCM files (2%) have no consistent format. If you want to find out what your SSCM file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
