A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. In the following you will find our evaluation of the TCO files:

The TCO extension is quite commonly used. The file itself includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 35% of all TCO files use the same file format, which have the signature TI-Nspire.tco. • 25% of all TCO files start with the magic bytes 18 00 00 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are often between 5 KB and 530 KB in size. These files can be linked to char, interactive, outfit, tshirt, metal and black.
