How to open an MCO file

MCO file format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. • 20% of all MCO files are associated with MSN Messenger Wink files, which internally utilize the well-known CAP format. CAP files are compressed archives. The first bytes (the signature) are 'MSCF' (short for MicroSoft Cabinet File). They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. A typical file size is 37 KB. The files contain the following words: MSCF and content.xml.
