Opening TGB Files
The TGB file type is primarily associated with Sophos Connect.
What is a TGB file?
In many cases these files are created for Sophos Cyberoam VPN setups and are managed with software like Sophos Connect.
Another group of TGB files is used with Zyxel VPN systems. These also hold network configuration details needed by the Zyxel VPN Client. For more details, visit Zyxel.
A smaller use of the TGB extension is in the gaming area. Some files carry the game state data for a Tiger Game Boy Emulator. This means they save progress and settings for emulated games. Additional resources for this type of file can be found at Zophar Utilities.

TGB format details:
To view or edit TGB files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our evaluation of the TGB files is as follows:
As a file extension, TGB isn't very common and predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 75% of all TGB files save the data in config file format. A configuration file is used by computer software to store settings. It consists of a text-based content with a structure and syntax comprising key–value pairs for properties, and sections that organize the properties. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are 2 KB to 2.3 KB in size, with a median of 2 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The keywords # Do not edit this file. It is overwritten by VpnConf, # SIGNATURE , Creation Date, SIGNATURE MD5, Written, xxxxxxxxxxxx, CyberoamServer and SFOS are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are CC_VPN_New.tgb. Such TGB files store data about connect, sophos, ipsec, remote, bheltownship, cmpdivpn and client.
- 8% of all TGB files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "01 0C 14 04 01 00 00 00 04" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. TGB files are between 2 KB and 4 KB in size.
All other TGB files (17%) have no uniform format. These files are often connected to skin or config. You can get all the details of your TGB file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .tgb file to view" above.
